# Liquidity Pool

[Liquidity pools](https://eigenphi.io/ethereum/pool/freq) are one of the critical infrastructures of DeFi. A liquidity pool includes a collection of crypto assets that can be used for decentralized trading, lending, and many more functions. For example, liquidity pools are essential for automated market makers (AMM), borrow-lend protocols, yield farming, synthetic assets, on-chain insurance, blockchain gaming, etc.
